Simplicity HealthStyle

Introduction:

Highlights:

Simplicity HealthStyle is a career advising program dedicated to empowering individuals to achieve life-work balance and pursue their career aspirations. This case study explores my involvement in these projects, highlighting the design strategies implemented to enhance user engagement and support the program's mission. During my tenure at Simplicity HealthStyle, I had the opportunity to contribute as an e-magazine designer for their DreamStyle Collective and play a role in the redesign and expansion of their website.

During my time working with Simplicity HealthStyle , I have achieved many milestones, such as:

  • Adaptability was one of the most important skills I developed during my time at Simplicity HealthStyle. I encountered several new tools and technologies, such as WordPress, with which I was initially unfamiliar. However, I dedicated time and effort to learn and master these tools over time. This experience not only expanded my skill set but also enhanced my ability to quickly adapt to new environments and technologies in the workplace.

  • Consistency in visual design was emphasized and ingrained in my work process.

  • Working with clients and maintaining flexibility represents a significant milestone in my design journey. Collaborating with a client involves a distinct approach compared to independent work. It often requires flexibility to align with the client's preferences and ensure the final product resonates with their vision, rather than solely reflecting my personal aesthetic choices.

Takeaways:

Speak up for the users!

  • Advocating for specific design elements becomes essential not just for visual appeal, but to enhance user interactions and usability. Balancing the client's preferences with design principles aimed at improving user experience is a delicate yet rewarding aspect of client collaboration. This experience has deepened my understanding of the dynamic relationship between design, client needs, and user engagement, fostering a more holistic approach to my design practice.

Communication is key!

  • Clear communication was fundamental to the success of this project. While I had significant creative freedom with the visual designs, collaborating closely with my client was essential. Understanding her preferences, goals, and vision was key. Regular updates and discussions ensured alignment before implementing any decisions or actions.

Every idea has its use!

  • Never delete your work, even if it is a sketch. I am a very clean and organized with my work. I like having things a certain way and if a design or sketch doesn’t have a purpose anymore I would throw it away. Big mistake on my part. Old ideas may be brought up into the design conversations and it would be very helpful to have them in hand. So even if I am not using them at the moment my ideas and designs might come to use in the future.
